One player hits perfect score as Wolves brilliantly comeback to beat Spurs

A mixture of player ratings for Wolves after an amazing comeback saw them strike two late goals to beat Spurs 2-1.

It seemed that Wolves were going to be the victim of back-to-back defeats as Brennan Johnson’s early goal looked to condemn the side at Molineux.

However, an inspired substitution from Gary O’Neil saw Pablo Sarabia take the game by the scruff of the neck to ensure Wolves came away with all three points.

After a dramatic finish, here are our player ratings as Wolves return to winning ways.

GK – Jose Sa – 6/10

It was a quiet game for the ‘keeper with Sa having little to nothing to do after the early opener. Since then, Spurs did little to threaten the goal and hence gave Sa little to work with.

CB – Max Kilman – 6/10

Kilman had a more creative spark about him against Spurs which was almost reminiscent of Conor Coady with the balls he was spraying around. Defensively, he needs to work more on ensuring that his backline are switched on at all times.

CB – Craig Dawson – 6/10

Ensured Spurs didn’t create anything after the opener. Tried to be a threat from set pieces but had little to work with after some especially poor deliveries. His late yellow will means he will miss the Fulham away after the international break.

CB – Toti Gomes – 6/10

One of the players who were sleeping for the opener. Gomes should have closed down Pedro Porro before he was able to send the ball into the box. Apart from that, he helped keep the backline secure but giving away such sloppy goal almost cost Wolves.

RWB – Nelson Semedo – 5/10

Semedo had to do better with the opener. To allow Brennan Johnson to get him in front of him really put Wolves in a poor spot for the rest of the game. His passes in the final third were also weak, with many going needlessly astray of the intended target.

CM – Jean-Ricner Bellegarde – 7/10

Another positive display from the Frenchman. He always looks to get onto the ball and push the side forward.

With Neto still out, Bellegarde was one of the very few players who tried to create something meaningful to bring the hosts level.

CM – Mario Lemina – 9/10

The midfielder absolutely dominated the middle of the park throughout the game and was one of Wolves’ main creative sparks throughout. The 30-year-old was highly unlucky not to get the equaliser in the first half as he forced Guglielmo Vicario into a great save.

However, he never gave up and scored a fantastic dramatic winner to send Molineux into raptures. Easily his best game in a Wolves shirt so far and his second goal in two games in front of the home crowd.

CM – Joao Gomes – 6/10

Helped to keep control of the middle for large periods. However, wasn’t really what Wolves needed with Spurs sitting deep for large portions, especially with Tommy Doyle sitting on the bench until the final moments.

LWB – Rayan Ait – Nouri – 7/10

The Algerian was Wolves’ main creative spark in the first half as they looked to get back into the game. His runs were fantastic as he really pushed the side forward.

ST – Hwang Hee-Chan – 5/10

Despite a rich run of form recently, the South Korean international went missing for large parts of the game.

The 27-year-old was barely involved in the first half before having a glorious opportunity at the start of the second period which he squandered.

ST – Matheus Cunha – 6/10

The Brazilian was lively and getting in the right areas but once again his decision-making let the 24-year-old down. Whether it is in final third or giving away a cheap freekick on the halfway line, Cunha at times is his own Achilles heel. However, his late assist for the equaliser was exquisite.

Sub – Matt Doherty – 6/10

Came on to offer more of an attacking threat after Semedo’s lacklustre display. Was unlucky not to get a late equaliser after Lemina’s crossed ball.

Sub – Saša Kalajdžić – 6/10

Should have at least hit the target with his late chance.

Sub – Tommy Doyle – 7/10

Helped change the game. His added creativity certainly helped Wolves get forward at important moments and come away with all three points.

Sub – Pablo Sarabia – 10/10

One of the best ever substitutes in a Wolves shirt. With extremely little time to work with, Sarabia came on and not only got a fantastic equaliser but also set up Lemina’s winner in what was one of the most memorable wins at Molineux in recent times.
