No starter below a 7/10 after Wolves batter Brentford in the capital

Multiple Wolves players shine with one hitting a 9/10 after Gary O’Neil’s side dominated Brentford 4-1 at Gtech Community Stadium.

Wolves got off to a fantastic start after Mario Lemina and Hwang Hee-Chan scored within a minute of each other. Despite Brentford quickly getting a goal back, Hwang soon restored Wolves’ two-goal advantage before half-time.

In the second half, it was clear that tiredness was a big factor for the visitors as they were forced to defend deep. However, Wolves hung on and rounded off the victory when Jean-Ricner Bellegarde netted his second of the season to make it 4-1.

Now, looking back on the game, rate the players after a fantastic win to end Wolves’ awayday woes.

Make a decent save to stop Brentford from making an immediate equaliser. From here, he made a couple more decent saves when Brentford pressed for a goal back at 3-1.

Made an excellent run in the first half which should have resulted in a goal. Helped keep the Wolves shape well under a lot of heavy pressure at the start of the second half before coming off.

CB – Max Kilman – 7/10

Helped keep the defence fairly composed as the visitors had to withstand heavy Brentford pressure at 3-1.

Came into the side for Craig Dawson and didn’t really put a foot wrong.

CB – Toti Gomes – 8/10

An assist from a usual position for Toti Gomes whose headed clearance landed right at Hwang Hee-Chan’s feet for Wolves’ third. The defender then did well to prevent Brentford from getting a second with a great-headed clearance. Defensively, Toti was excellent and made sure little got through on his side.

LWB – Rayan Ait-Nouri – 8/10

Despite not being able to show his usual attacking prowess, Ait-Nouri was highly impressive at the back. The fullback made a highly important interception at 3-1 to stop the Brentford attacker from tapping into an empty net.

CM – Mario Lemina – 7/10

Back-to-back goals and back-to-back headers from the midfielder who has quickly become Wolves’ main man this season. It was a great run from Lemina who gave the visitors a golden start.

CM – Joao Gomes – 8/10

Despite not having as much control in possession in the midfield, Joao Gomes cut out many potential opportunities for the hosts to damage their rhythm.

RW – Pablo Sarabia – 7/10

It was a fantastic cross from the winger whose inch-perfect ball landed right on the head of Lemina. His influence died in the second half and was subbed off after the hour mark.

ST – Matheus Cunha – 7/10

Despite being part of a fantastic attacking outfit in the first half, Cunha had little to do in the second period as the visitors looked to defend deep. However, he almost finished the game off out of nowhere as he hit the post late on. Then, when another opportunity presented itself, he slid the ball to Bellegarde to make it 4-1.

LW – Hwang Hee-Chan – 9/10

It was a fantastic run from the winger who was rewarded with possibly the easiest goal he will ever score. After intercepting a terrible backpass from former Wolves defender Nathan Collins, he managed to quickly round the ‘keeper and netted an immediate second for the visitors. His second was even more impressive with Hwang on his toes once again to beautifully control Toti Gomes’ clearance and place it past the ‘keeper. Sadly, his night was ended early through injury.

Sub – Jean-Ricner Bellegarde – 8/10

Feeding off scraps for the majority of the second half, the midfielder helped push Wolves forward multiple times after heavy pressure. He was then rewarded with his performance with a goal to round off the win.

Came on and helped keep the flank secure against a tricky Brentford winger.
