Munetsi and Arokodare on target, but Wolves fans hail ‘unbelievable footballer’ in Everton win

Wolves are through to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup after beating Everton 2-0 at Molineux – and fans are raving about one of the club’s new signings.

Wolves needed a win tonight to restore a bit of confidence after the loss to Leeds United in the Premier League at the weekend.

And Vitor Pereira has eased a bit of the pressure by masterminding a victory at Molineux in front of a reduced crowd.

Marshall Munetsi gave Wolves the lead in the first-half, and Tolu Arokodare grabbed his first goal for the club in the dying embers in ice cold fashion.

Wolves played with much more confidence tonight, and there was a lot less chaos as a result of the team selections Pereira made.

Pereira changed his back three, bringing in Matt Doherty, Santiago Bueno and Ladislav Krejci, who had played in midfield against Leeds.

All three were great, but it is Krejci who most Wolves fans are hailing after tonight’s win.

There were some raised eyebrows when Wolves signed Krejci from Girona for a £6 million loan fee, with a £20 million buy option for next year, which will be triggered.

Some felt it was not a wholly necessary signing, but so far, Krejci has really looked the part.

And that continued tonight, as he stepped back into the backline in the Toti Gomes role.

Krejci was so composed on the ball and made everything he did look easy on the night.

And fans lapped him up on social media.

@keiran_wwfc: “Krejci very good.”

@juranceb01: “Pereira has got a decision to make if he is to play a back four as Krejci looks about Wolves’ best signing. Looks a brilliant ball playing centre half.

@danisawolf: “Ladislav Krejci unbelievable footballer.”

@jon_mark_davies: “Krejci is different gravy.”

@krittterrr: “It’s funny after his final game at Girona not one wolves fan wanted to sign him, and yet Krejci has been a revelation.”

Krejci looks a class act

So much has been made of Wolves’ defending so far this season.

But against Everton the backline looked the most solid it’s been so far – and Krejci really did sparkle on that left side.

His performance was reminiscent of the level Wolves fans got used to seeing from Emmanuel Agbadou last term.

He simply must keep his place in the side. Pereira has already praised Krejci several times, so one would imagine he will.

While he did well in midfield against Leeds, scoring Wolves’ goal, the defence looked much more solid for having him in it.
