Amazon Prime pundit Matt Holland heaped praise on Conor Coady after his performance in the 0-0 draw with Burnley.

The 28-year-old took up his usual position as the middle centre-back of the back three.

And it was another assured display from the England international.

Coady’s place in the starting XI was the topic of debate ahead of Bruno Lage’s arrival.

Some thought he may have suffered from a possible formation change.

But Lage has continued to play with a back three, with Coady playing every Premier League game so far.

Barring a few iffy outings, the club captain has been pretty solid so far, and has certainly played his part in Wolves having the joint-third best defensive record in the division.

He was good again last night, and speaking after the game, Holland said: “Coady is not the quickest, and he’s not the biggest. I think if you go up against him one-vs-one and try and isolate him you can win a lot of headers against him.

“But he’s a good organiser and a good talker, and he played well again tonight.”

Coady’s contributions were also praised by Lage, who picked out the three central defenders.

Coady doing a good job, but he’ll now be seriously tested

Coady has done a decent job on the whole so far this season.

Max Kilman has been the star performer, but the captain has definitely had plenty more good games than bad.

But the next few weeks are going to be a big test for Coady.

Wolves are playing Liverpool, Manchester City, Brighton and Chelsea next and also have Arsenal and Manchester United in the near future.

Given Wolves’ lack of other options, he’ll be playing every game.

Hopefully he can keep the fatigue at bay, although that will be difficult.
