Matt Doherty wasn’t the only injury for Wolves against Chelsea as Vitor Pereira shares ‘bad news’

Wolves came up short against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, and Vitor Pereira dropped a concerning update after the game regarding a couple of players.

Wolves lost 4-3 against the Blues, but there were positives to take from the frenetic clash.

There was a real show of resilience and character in the second-half, with Wolves almost staging a remarkable comeback.

In the end, the goal by Jamie Gittens to make it 4-2 was a real killer for the home side, although they still wouldn’t lie down with David Moller Wolfe scoring his second goal in injury-time.

The game was chaos, and unfortunately, a couple of players did not come out of the game unscathed.

Matt Doherty was back starting for Wolves against Chelsea, after missing out at the weekend against Burnley.

But the Irish defender’s night was sadly cut short, after he picked up an injury during Chelsea’s second goal.

Doherty was immediately withdrawn and replaced by Rodrigo Gomes.

Rodrigo Gomes was then himself taken off at half-time, with some fans thinking this was a tactical change at first.

But after the game, Pereira said that Rodrigo also picked up an injury.

He said in his post-match press conference: “Two problems today. Doherty and Rodrigo.

“I don’t know if it’s serious or not. But bad news.”

A double blow for Wolves

Fans will now patiently wait for news about Doherty and Rodrigo, and the hope is that neither player will be out for too long.

Doherty has shown this season that he is still a player who has a lot to offer, and his leadership in particular is going to be especially important.

Rodrigo has impressed fans with his usual effervescence, and he has also provided a threat, scoring a couple of goals up to now.

It would be a real blow for Wolves to lose either for an extended period, so fingers crossed on both.
