Matheus Cunha sends new message to Wolves fans on Instagram after scoring at Molineux vs Tottenham

Sunday saw Matheus Cunha return to action for Wolves against Tottenham Hotspur – and the Brazilian marked it with a goal.

Wolves made it four wins on the spin, beating Spurs 4-2 at Molineux.

Vitor Pereira named an unchanged starting line-up once again, just as he said he would in his press conference a few days ago.

That made news, because obviously Cunha was available for selection again after his suspension.

Wolves fans had praised Pereira for not starting Cunha against Spurs, believing there was no need to change a winning team

Cunha did come on as a substitute against Spurs – and the star has now taken to Instagram to send a message to fans.

It was always going to be interesting to see how much involvement Cunha would get against Tottenham.

Pereira overlooked Cunha in the first-half after Jean-Ricner Bellegarde got injured, with the manager instead turning to Pablo Sarabia.

But Cunha did get on in the second-half around the 70 minute mark.

And perhaps inevitably, Cunha scored.

He scored Wolves’ fourth goal, taking advantage of some lax play by Lucas Bergvall, before slotting home confidently.

Cunha celebrated almost apologetically to the Wolves fans, and this evening the player has taken to Instagram to share a message with the supporters.

He wrote: “Minhas coisas 😘🫶🏽. Thanks Molineux for the atmosphere ❤️‍🔥.”

Cunha just needs to keep his head down

It was good to see Cunha get a good reception at Molineux against Spurs.

Ultimately a toxic environment is never helpful, and Wolves fans clearly weren’t ready to create one while the team was playing so well.

It is important now for Cunha to just keep his head down and play football.

The season is nearly over, and he will get his move away from Wolves in the summer.

Wolves fans will not begrudge him a move for everything he’s done, so he just needs to get his head down and play.

Because failure to do so may not do him any favours this summer regarding clubs coming in for him.
