Wolves Women manager makes Matheus Cunha reference after West Brom win

Charlotte Greengrass earned the headlines on the afternoon, as the forward netted four goals at the Hawthorns.

It was a stellar result for the Old Gold, who were hungry to get the win against their bitter rivals.

McNamara loved what he saw from his side, with one fan at the Hawthorns capturing a special moment between the manager and the supporters.

The boss was seen copying Matheus Cunha’s famed celebration at the ground, pointing to the Wolves badge before doing a circling gesture to imply that the Black Country belongs to the Old Gold.

Cunha’s celebration came during Wolves’ FA Cup win last season, as Gary O’Neil’s side beat the Championship outfit 2-0 away from home.

Wolves Women ensured that another memorable day was recorded for the Midlands club at the home of their neighbours, in what was a perfect result for the women’s side.

Cunha’s celebration against West Brom lives on

Due to Wolves and West Brom being a division apart, the Black Country derby has become even more of a spectacle when the two teams meet.

Arguably one of the moments of the 2023/24 campaign came from the Old Gold’s win at the Hawthorns, with Cunha’s celebration after his goal something that sent the away fans wild.

Cunha has a photo of his celebration against West Brom in his gym, taking in the jubilation that comes from scoring against the Baggies.

McNamara will be overjoyed to have added to the club’s history against West Brom, as Wolves Women demolished their rivals on their home turf, rubbing salt in the wounds by scoring eight.
