Wolves put in a more respectable performance away at Liverpool, and Mateus Mane was the one player who stood out for Rob Edwards’ side.
A lapse in concentration cost Wolves in the first half as Liverpool netted two goals in quick succession.
The first saw Andre and Joao Gomes make a rather mediocre attempt to stop Jeremie Frimpong, while the second saw Santiago Bueno caught slightly out of position.
It was a game of minimal chances, with Tolu Arokodare given the responsibility of leading the line for Wolves, and he didn’t disappoint.
He held up the ball well, rose highest for the header that led to the goal, as well as occupied Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate well.
But it was Mateus Mane who stole the show in the gold shirt in what was the first Premier League start in his professional career for Wolves.
What needs to change for Wolves to get their first win?🤔
