Lisandro Martinez shares his honest assessment of Wolves and their current position

The Wolves players can hold their heads high after a decent performance against Manchester United in the Premier League.

Rob Edwards had his Wolves side playing some of the best football they’ve played since he took charge at Old Trafford, yet they still couldn’t secure their first three points.

Ladislav Krejci could have had a brace, but it was Mateus Mane again who looked extremely bright and has added a new dimension to Wolves’ attack since his introduction.

What did you make of Mateus Mane’s performance against Man United?

Wolves now face West Ham United and Everton in what are two winnable games that could turn the mood completely around at Molineux.

And with the January transfer window just a day away, things could start to look quite different if Wolves can break the usual mould and do their business early.

Lisandro Martinez gives Wolves their credit

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez certainly doesn’t agree with the position Wolves find themselves in after holding his side to a draw.

The Argentine commented on Wolves’ position and highlighted how comfortable we looked.

If opposition players are impressed, what is the underlying issue at Wolves?🤔

Martinez has seen Wolves on a good day, so perhaps his comments may have been different in the return fixture, but it’s nice to see opposition players appreciate a good performance.

But comments like these often make things more frustrating, as it just shows what this team is capable of and could have achieved all season with the correct application.

Where do Wolves go from here?

Rob Edwards needs to keep his cool and roll with the same formation and players that were on display against Manchester United, as it clearly worked.

Mateus Mane in the roaming role creates more space for players like Joao Gomes to pick him out, whilst the support of Jhon Arias and Hwang Hee-chan in wide areas allowed more chances to be created.

The only dilemma now is with Andre. He was suspended for Wolves’ clash with Man United, but will be available to play against West Ham at the weekend.

Bringing in Andre would provide more stability, but then you lose one of your attacking outlets that could cause a fragile West Ham some issues in defence.
