Wolves lost their latest Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur – but one player really stood out for Lee Naylor.
Wanderers had the chance to show a bit of pride at Molineux in the first game since relegation was confirmed.
While there was effort against Spurs, Wolves just couldn’t show enough quality to get a result.
Thoughts on that display, Wolves fans? 🙄
Rob Edwards and the players were greeted by boos from the South Bank after the full-time whistle…
The first-half was extremely poor. There was a slight improvement after the break, but Wolves could not breach Spurs.
It was the 18th game this season that Wolves have failed to score, and the lack of quality up top has again been Wolves’ downfall.
Joao Palhinha got Tottenham’s goal, and it was just another day to forget for Wolves.
But after the game, Lee Naylor did praise Joao Gomes.
Lee Naylor says Joao Gomes was ‘another level’ vs Tottenham Hotspur

Wolves battled but came up short against Spurs – and no one battled harder than Gomes.
His 23 duels were the most of any player in the game from either side, and he also made 10 defensive contributions (via Sofascore).
Speaking on Matchday Live Extra after the game, former Old Gold full-back Lee Naylor picked out the Brazilian as the standout player.
He also praised Jose Sa.
He said: The defending has got to be better. Just all over the field… the one person who’s coming out of this with any credit – well, two – is Sa and Joao.”
“I thought Joao was just another level.
“You can see why he’s getting linked with the teams he’s getting linked with.”
Joao Gomes wanted by Atletico Madrid
In recent days, it’s been claimed by journalist Alex Crook that Gomes is in the crosshairs of Atletico Madrid, with Wolves valuing the player at around £40 million.
It hasn’t been a good season for Gomes by his standards, but he has still shown a lot more heart than most other players throughout the campaign.

If there’s one player in that squad who would be deserving of a move to a top European club this summer, it would very much be him.
From the day he first arrived at Wolves, Gomes has given his all for the badge and barring that first half-season, has been a regular pick in the midfield.
There is no way he’ll be staying, but he’s more than earned a top move and should go with the good grace of the fans.
