Journalist praises ‘outrageous’ Wolves player for what he did in 2-1 win vs Tottenham

Wolves sent shockwaves across the Premier League by beating Tottenham in their own backyard this afternoon, and Pedro Neto was showered with praise for his role in that victory.

Gary O’Neil called for a huge response from his Wolves players after falling to a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Brentford last weekend and they answered in emphatic style by beating the Champions League hopefuls.

The Wanderers took the lead in the first half through a glancing header from Joao Gomes. Dejan Kulusevski then equalised shortly after the break as many expected Spurs to go on and win the match.

However, O’Neil’s side had other ideas as Pedro Neto ran the full length of the pitch and outpaced Emerson Royal to the byline before pulling the ball back perfectly into the path of Gomes, who showed composure to side-foot the ball past a despairing Vicario.

Although the Brazilian was rightfully labelled as the best player on the field after scoring a brace, Neto once more proved why Wolves are asking clubs to cough up at least £80 million to lure him away from Molineux in the summer.

The Portuguese superstar produced a moment of brilliance with that lung-bursting run and several waxed lyrical over what they just saw.

Pedro Neto hailed as ‘outrageous’ for role in second Wolves goal

After clocking up the second-highest speed in the Premier League in 2023/24 (36.86), behind only Luton Town’s Chiedozie Ogbene, there is no surprise that Neto ate up ground like there is no tomorrow.

When he gets going, the 23-year-old is lightning quick and few defenders in the top flight can keep up with him.

Reacting to Neto running the full length of the pitch and assisting Gomes, journalist Liam Keen labelled the moment as “outrageous”.

He wrote:

This moment was just the latest in a catalogue of incredible pieces of brilliance that Neto has produced with O’Neil taking him to new heights.

Pedro Neto is an assist machine

The excellent winger now has an exceptional nine assists in the Premier League this season and is only one behind Kieran Trippier and Ollie Watkins.

There aren’t many better in the league at grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck and producing the game-defining moment.

Even when he isn’t at his best, he can still produce class in the final third and that is just the hallmark of a great player.

Wolves supporters will be longing for him to stay at Molineux, but with big clubs showing an interest in their superstar, they may have to enjoy him while they can.
