Jamie Carragher makes Nuno claim in honest assessment of Wolves after watching 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest

Wolves have slipped to a 3-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest.

Vitor Pereira made five changes to the side that started against Tottenham Hotspur, and was without key duo Nelson Semedo and Matheus Cunha.

Wolves went 1-0 down early doors after Morgan Gibbs-White exchanged passes with Anthony Elanga to score.

Wolves then created a string of chances, but could not convert, with Jorgen Strand Larsen having an off day in front of goal and Matz Sels in inspired form for the visitors.

It is Pereira’s first defeat since he arrived, and perhaps something of a reality check for fans.

The new manager needs defenders, and the arrival of Emmanuel Agbadou cannot come soon enough for Wolves.

Tonight’s game was extremely frustrating.

Ultimately, Wolves were made to pay for poor finishing, and more poor defending.

Strand Larsen will want to forget this game quite quickly, as he had four chances to score. That said, credit must go to Matz Selz, who had a solid game for Forest.

It may have finished 3-0, but Wolves at least didn’t get battered.

It’s fine margins, and Jamie Carragher shared his thoughts on the performance at full-time, believing Wolves got ‘Nuno’d’.

He said on Sky Sports (as quoted by BBC Sport): “It’s been happening all season. I spoke before the game about how you set up against this Nottingham Forest team. Wolves take the game to them as almost every team does and they got Nuno’d. Wolves have been Nuno’d. That is the best way to describe it.

There was a lot to admire from Wolves and the chances they created, but what Nuno is doing and how he is setting his team up. No one knows that better than that Wolves crowd. What a journey and it is brilliant for the Premier League.

Wolves played into Nottingham Forest’s hands

This is a hard result to take, because Wolves chances in the first-half especially.

Carragher is right in that Wolves got ‘Nuno’d’ at Molineux.

By now, it should be obvious how Forest play. They are very well organised, and then stage counter-attacks really effectively.

Wolves had a makeshift defence, so there was also going to be trouble in the event of transitions, and Forest made Wolves pay.
