‘Inspirational’ Wolves star told he could do one thing after terrorising Fulham at Craven Cottage

A 4-1 Wolves victory against Fulham at Craven Cottage saw the Old Gold fly out of the relegation zone much to the thanks of Matheus Cunha.

The pressure was on for Wolves are they travelled to the capital. Despite producing a good run of results going into the match, the performances were far from inspiring.

Gary O’Neil was particularly feeling the heat, with many Wolves fans calling for the manager to be sacked despite their 2-0 victory over Southampton before the international break.

Speculation continued before the match with reports suggesting that Wolves had held talks over potential O’Neil replacements

Therefore, a result was needed in the capital, and despite going 1-0, the visitors came back in style, with Cunha stealing the headlines.

The attacker netted two of the goals as well as picked up an assist on their way to victory.

As a result, Cunha’s form has been widely praised by the media with Sky Sports’ Jonny Phillips making a big claim about the 25-year-old.

Cunha’s form has no doubt been sensational this season. While much of the Wolves squad has been lacking quality, the attacker has carried the club to multiple valuable points.

This was once again on show on Saturday as he was by the best player on the pitch.

Cunha’s first goal was taken like prime Dennis Bergkamp as he chipped the Fulham ‘keeper to equalise.

Then, his second was magical as he hit a thunderous ball into the top corner to make it 3-1.

Such an eye-catching display has wowed many, with Sky Sports journalist Jonny Phillips now claiming that Cunha could play for any team in the Premier League.

He said: “It’s hard to recall a more inspirational performance for Wolves in recent seasons than Matheus Cunha’s today.

“Two outstanding goals and a constant thorn in Fulham’s side, the Brazilian would get into every other team in the league on this form.”

It is safe to say that without Cunha, Wolves would likely be bottom of the Premier League right now.

The Brazilian has carried the club throughout and is the main reason why they are one of the most clinical sides in the league.

Teams are no doubt going to come in for Cunha over the coming months to try and tempt him away from Wolves, but the club must do everything in their power to hold onto him for as long as possible.

If Wolves can build a team around Cunha, they could return to their previous glories in the Premier League and challenge for Europe once more.
