I just saw 25-year-old Wolves star demolish Man United at Molineux

Wolves picked up a vital 2-0 victory over 10-player Man United to move the Old Gold out of the Premier League relegation zone.

Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan netted the goals in Vitor Pereira’s first home match in charge of Wolves.

After a lacklustre first half with few chances, the game sprang to life two minutes into the second period.

Man United captain Bruno Fernandes was sent off for a second yellow card after 47 minutes.

The Old Gold were unlucky not to take the lead a minute later when Jorgen Strand Larsen had the ball in the net before the Norwegian was adjudged to be offside.

Cunha then took the lead just before the hour mark as he fired the ball into the back of the net straight from a corner.

Hwang Hee-Chan then secured the result in added time with a tidy finish to give Wolves’ new manager back-to-back victories.

Now, Molineux News has rated the players after the sensational victory.

Made a great stop from Diogo Dalot’s distanced effort mid-way through the first half.

Almost picked up an assist when he lasered the ball to Goncalo Guedes but the Portuguese attacker was unable to take full control.

After this, the ‘keeper had little to do as he kept a clean sheet.

RWB – Matt Doherty – 8/10

Matt Doherty continued his form back in the Wolves starting XI as he led the attack on the right-hand side.

The Irishman caused all sorts of problems for the visitors which, in turn, allowed others to be more creative.

In defence, Doherty also won everything and had little trouble keeping United at bay.

CB – Nelson Semedo  – 8/10

Almost got a rare goal as his audacious effort took a wicked deflection before spinning wide.

Since becoming captain, Nelson Semedo has also done a great job at organising Wolves’ defence as the panic that plagued the Old Gold earlier in the season slowly disappears.

CB – Santiago Bueno – 7/10

Santiago Bueno was a calm presence at the back throughout. Few chances came United’s way and the Molineux faithful have the Uruguayan to thank.

The defender has had far from a great season this campaign, but if he can build on this game, more clean sheets will come Wolves’ way.

CB – Toti Gomes – 6/10

Had some nervy moments throughout but managed to see the game out. It was always going to be a difficult game for Toti Gomes but he ensured that the visitors had few real chances.

Hopefully, the defender can now build upon this performance in a season which has been far from ideal for the Portuguese international.

LWB – Rayan Ait-Nouri – 7/10

Took him some time to get into the game but once Rayan Ait-Nouri got involved he created some excellent chances.

This continued into the second period where he only caused more issues for the visitors as the game went on.

CM – Joao Gomes – 6/10

A good performance from Joao Gomes who helped control the midfield throughout the vast majority of the match.

However, he was rightly subbed off later on in the game as he was already on a yellow card.

CM – Andre – 8/10

Andre helped keep Wolves’ midfield secure throughout the match as he won the ball of multiple Man United players with a fantastic press.

The Brazilian produced multiple exceptional challenges to keep the momentum going and ensure the visitors had no time to rest.

RW – Goncalo Guedes – 6/10

Struggled at times to match his performance vs Leicester but still offered a consistent threat.

In the first half, Guedes was getting into some fantastic positions, however, his final touch sometimes allowed the ball to get away from him.

Yet, Guedes should have had a goal when Larsen looked to square the ball to the attack but only found the gloves of the United ‘keeper.

Almost took the lead in the first half as a bouncing header forced the Man United ‘keeper to make a save.

Again, Larsen came close to giving the hosts when he converted Semedo’s cross before he was adjudged to be offside.

However, the striker should have done better when Wolves broke away and had a great chance for 2-0 but he could not find Guedes unmarked inside the box.

LW – Matheus Cunha – 9/10

Showed plenty of dazzling tricks throughout the game as Man United struggled to stop the Brazilian from charging into their half.

Cunha’s influence continued in the second period when Fernandes’ yellow allowed him to have more freedom on the pitch.

Then, the Brazilian produced a moment of brilliance as his corner flew directly into the back of the net to give the hosts a valuable lead.

He then confirmed the win with an unselfish pass to Hwang in added time to secure the victory.
