How Jorgen Strand Larsen took inspiration from Matheus Cunha’s Ipswich controversy during Wolves win

Jorgen Strand Larsen was Wolves’ hero once again as the Norwegian won his side another three points.

Strand Larsen had a rather subdued game against Ipswich; however, like all good strikers, the forward rose to the occasion when it mattered.

The Norway international set up Pablo Sarabia to score the equaliser in Wolves’ win over Ipswich, seeing the Spaniard return the favour to allow the summer signing to score a late winner.

The game ended with Strand Larsen rising as one of Wolves’ top performers against Ipswich, a contest that saw Vitor Pereira’s side move to 12 points above the relegation zone.

Jorgen Strand Larsen’s full-time celebration against Ipswich

Pereira was thrilled with his team’s win, celebrating post-match after spending the game in the stands due to suspension.

The away end at Portman Road was jubilant, as were the players, who were involved in some celebratory scenes at full-time.

It was quite the contrast to the ending of Wolves’ defeat to Ipswich at Molineux in December, with Strand Larsen striking late to get the party started.

Amid the celebrations, Toti Gomes upset Ipswich fans, which is something Strand Larsen also did, taking inspiration from Matheus Cunha at full-time.

Ipswich expert Stuart Watson drew attention to the match-winner’s celebration, as Strand Larsen was spotted with joke glasses on.

Watson described the striker as ‘cheeky’, referring to Cunha’s actions against Ipswich in December that resulted in the Brazilian collecting an FA charge.

Cunha’s actions were petulant as he took the glasses of a member of Ipswich’s staff, but fortunately, some associated with the Tractor Boys saw the humour in Strand Larsen’s mimicking of the event months later.

Matheus Cunha ready to return

Strand Larsen was delighted with the result, scoring his fourth Premier League goal in his previous three games.

The Norwegian is hitting top form, which is a positive for Wolves but could hand Pereira a dilemma when Cunha returns.

Alan Shearer believes Strand Larsen performs better without Cunha, an opinion shared by many, drawing attention to the 25-year-old’s return against Tottenham.

Fans will hope that the duo can find a way to perform brightly in each other’s presence, with Strand Larsen very much the man of the moment amid Cunha’s suspension.
