Fer Lopez has played his first minutes since signing for Wolves as the Old Gold lost to CD Santa Clara.
During a training session at Wolves’ pre-season camp in Portugal, Vitor Pereira’s side played a 70-minute match against Santa Clara.
The Portuguese club emerged victorious despite the Old Gold dominating the fixture, which saw two different Wolves squads in action.
Aside from Alfie Pond, Pereira rotated his teams in the first and second half, with the second seeing Lopez make his non-competitive debut.

How Fer Lopez performed on his Wolves debut
It feels like an eternity since Lopez was unveiled by Wolves back in late June.
Finally, fans were able to learn a bit about their new signing, as Express and Star reporters Liam Keen and Nathan Judah were at the training match.
The pair of Wolves experts passed comment on Lopez, both sharing a positive review of the former Celta Vigo star’s performance.
Keen lauded the new signing’s intelligence during his 35-minute cameo, applauding his blossoming partnership with Jorgen Strand Larsen.
“Fer Lopez picked up some very intelligent positions, coming in off the right on his favoured left foot, in between the lines.
“Very intelligent, the pockets he finds space, a couple of really nice reverse passes to find Larsen and other teammates, and that partnership was good. There was a free kick that he clipped in, and Larsen made a run near post, so lots of good link-up play between those two.”
Keen wasn’t the only one to mention the chemistry between Lopez and Strand Larsen, who are friends, having crossed paths at Celta Vigo.
“That link-up play, you had Fer Lopez on the right, almost in that Pablo Sarabia position,” Judah said.
“Working really well with Jorgen Strand Larsen. Just that link-up play bodes really well for the future.”
Lopez can deliver Vitor Pereira an upgrade on Pablo Sarabia
Aside from the exciting report on the partnership between Strand Larsen and Lopez, comparisons between the 21-year-old and Pablo Sarabia are interesting.
Pereira commented on Sarabia’s exit, admitting that while he wishes he had more time to coach the Spaniard, the physicality of the Premier League was a ‘problem’ for the former Wolf.
In Lopez, the boss has the playmaking intelligence that Sarabia possessed at Molineux as well as the summer signing’s youthful spark and six-foot-one stature, presenting a dream scenario.
It will be a dream for Pereira to see his new acquisition combining so well with his teammates early on, but this is only the start for Lopez and Wolves.
