Wolves came out on the losing side of a drama-filled seven-goal game against Manchester United at Molineux on Thursday.
Despite going 2-0 down in the first half, Wolves managed to give Manchester United a real game as they pulled the scoreline back to 3-3 at one stage, before ultimately losing 4-3.
This prior to the special talent that is Kobbie Mainoo scoring a winner with such talent it’s hard to be upset.
Ultimately while Gary O’Neil will never be pleased to lose, there are some real positives to take from the fixture at Molineux.
This is something he has recognised in his post-game interview.

Gary O’Neil gives his view on a seven-goal thriller
Speaking to TNT Sports post-game, O’Neil shared his verdict on the thrilling game.
“I was proud of what they produced. Effort, quality, togetherness. Bundles of it. Disappointed with some of it.
“First half got away from us and didn’t stick with what we were trying to do. Second half I think we were great and we dominated. Just a couple of details really.
“The corner goal is disappointing and then to concede from the throw-in at the end, that’s not how we defend from a throw-in.
“We look a really good side at times and we just need to keep trying to improve and we don’t have long to dust ourselves down for the next one.”
Wolves can be pleased with second half performance
The first half performance was almost unrecognisable from the second and from that, positives can be taken.
Such a bad display in the opening 45 can be looked at as a small blip rather than a true reflection of how Wolves are progressing.
Instead, the second half showed just how close O’Neil has his side to the likes of United and therefore a European spot potentially.
A hard-fought loss is easy to stomach but Wolves need to be hungry to win next time out this weekend.
