The final match of Wolves’ pre-season has ended in a 1-0 loss to Celta Vigo.
Wolves showed a lack of intensity in the first half, but we did get a glimpse at how Vitor Pereira plans to use David Moller Wolfe.
The second half saw an increase in tempo from both sides.
On the hour mark, an outstanding finish from Celta Vigo’s Pablo Duran broke the deadlock. It was a straight ball into the box that exposed a gap in the Wolves defence, with Jose Sa unable to do anything about the low volleyed shot.

The Spanish side sat in after taking the lead, challenging the home side to break them down, and Wolves weren’t up to the task.
But one player seems to be getting a lot of the blame.
Fans have seen enough after Ki-Jana Hoever’s performance against Celta Vigo
Ki-Jana Hoever has had a mixed pre-season, starting strong but unimpressive in the last couple of outings.
Hoever’s crossing has frustrated Wolves fans, and despite sending the ball in on a number of occasions before coming off in the 66th minute, fans are once again calling out his lack of end product.
Users on X did not hold back when questioning the Dutchman’s ability, with one saying: “How is Hoever playing for Wolves in the year 2025?”
“Seriously they need to get rid of Hoever, my god is he shocking….”, says another disappointed spectator.
This Wolves fan has a flair for the dramatic: “If Hoever is the answer… I’ve got no idea what the question is.”
Looking forward to next week’s Premier League opener, fans aren’t too optimistic: “I’m baffled how anyone can be positive about this squad. There are glaring holes, it’s weaker than last season. We are one week away from the season and we have Hoever starting and next to no one who can make an impact from the bench. It needs a lot more work than just 3 signings.”
In the same sentiment: “If we [have] Hoever starting next week against Ait Nouri then I’d much rather we forfeit.”
Another agrees: “Hoever nowhere near PL quality.”
One fan suggests giving another youngster a run, saying: “Get Hoever off, absolutely useless. Get Lima on.”
Fans are turning their attention to the window as they worry for the new season: “Clear for everyone to see we need more quality. Very flat performance. Lopez/Arias showed flashes. Hoever/H.Bueno nowhere near the level required. Important few weeks coming up.”
One fan can at least still find his sense of humour, saying: “Bueno and Hoever aren’t PL level. Toti looks a far cry from how he came back from injury. Need multiple incomings, glad we’ve got ages left before the season starts… Oh.”
Wolves’ search for a new right-back must continue
It’s clear from the reaction of supporters that Hoever is not ready for a starting role at Wolves, again emphasising the need for an addition at right-back.
The Juanlu Sanchez saga continues on, but the player doesn’t want to join.

Nelson Semedo’s departure to Fenerbahce was always going to hurt the squad, but it’s clear the void he has left can’t be filled by the youngsters in the squad.
As well as pursuing another attacker, Wolves absolutely have to amp up the aggression in finding Semedo’s replacement.
