Four things we learned after Wolves returned to winning ways with an incredible 2-1 victory over Spurs.
Gary O’Neil produced another sensational display from his side as they bounced back from their 2-0 defeat against Brentford last weekend.
Multiple players were on fine form, with Joao Gomes the pick of the bunch as he netted twice to give Wolves all three points.
The visitors thoroughly deserved the victory which helped to make history at Wolves as they recorded another win over Spurs.
Now, looking back at the game, here our four things we learned about from the result.
Incredible first-half performance from Gary O’Neil’s side in Spurs vs Wolves

So far this season, Wolves have been subject to some dreadful starts in games. This had become more prominent recently, with O’Neil’s side being battered by Man United in their 4-3 defeat as well as being sub-par against Brentford.
However, this weekend, Wolves were on top and took a deserved lead at half-time. Pablo Sarabia’s ball was pinpoint to Joao Gomes who picked up a great goal for an incredible performance.
Sadly, this work was quickly undone with an immediate reaction from Spurs in the second period.
Wolves continue to start slow

While Wolves normally concede early in the first half of games, this week in came in the second. After an incredible performance, Wolves threw it all away as they allowed Spurs to equaliser just 45 seconds into the second half.
All coming from a throw-in, Dejan Kulusevski drifted too easily past Craig Dawson at the back before poking the ball through Jose Sa’s legs.
It was exactly what Wolves needed to avoid as it gave Spurs and the crowd the momentum they wanted straight away.
Joao Gomes is going to the top

Since announcing himself to Wolves fans in dramatic fashion, the Brazilian hadn’t netted for Wolves. However, these goals came in a memorable fashion.
After heading Wolves in front from a corner, Joao Gomes struck again just went Spurs were asserting their control. An incredible run from Pedro Neto saw Wolves inflict another devastating counter-attack. The Portuguese international then slid the ball to the midfielder who slammed it into the net.
The goals weren’t the only part of Joao Gomes’ performance either. The midfielder cut everything out in the middle of the park, halting Spurs’ flow and allowing the visitors to counter multiple times.
This wasn’t the first time this season Joao Gomes has put in one of these types of performances and it won’t be the last. Hopefully, he can continue to add goals as he becomes one of Wolves’ most vital players.
Is Wolves’ European hunt still on?

After defeats to Man United and Brentford as well as the injury to Matheus Cunha, it seemed as if the European dream was a step too far for Wolves this season.
However, Wolves bounced back in style to once again collect another memorable victory this campaign.
Now, O’Neil’s side sits just two points off Newcastle in seventh with Wolves set to face the Magpies in two Premier League games time.
While reaching this may still be a stretch, you cannot rule the Molineux side out yet. If Wolves can start replicating these types of performances on a consistent basis, European football is theirs for the taking.
