Former Premier League star stunned by ‘crazy’ thing Wolves did vs Fulham – Vitor Pereira will be furious

Wolves endured a nightmare start against Fulham at Molineux, conceding shortly after kick off.

Vitor Pereira was delighted with his side’s win over Bournemouth but, was clear that his Wolves squad needed further improvement.

It took just one minute of the Old Gold’s meeting against Fulham for one particular frailty to show, as the visitors opened the scoring almost immediately.

Rodrigo Muniz and Ryan Sessegnon combined to stun Wolves’ defence and midfield, in what was a terrible start for the Midlands side in front of a home crowd.

Andy Reid reacts to ‘crazy’ Wolves defending against Fulham

Hearts were in mouths as Molineux waited to learn if Sessegnon’s goal was offside, in what was a tight call that was eventually cleared by VAR.

Pereira’s side found themselves in hot water from the off, with the nature of the goal even more disappointing that how early it was scored.

Nelson Semedo was drawn towards the ball to allow Sessegnon to sneak in behind with a clear passage on goal, with the chance coming from poor defending all over the pitch.

Former Premier League midfielder Andy Reid was stunned by how poor Wolves’ defending was, sharing his verdict on the Old Gold’s start at Molineux, via BBC Radio 5 Live.

“Incredibly poor defending from Wolves. You can’t play such a high line when there is no pressure on the ball. They were trying to play offside three or four yards into their own half – crazy stuff.”

Reid, who made 115 Premier League appearances, was shocked by how open Wolves were to allow Fulham to walk through the midfield and defence, something that will surely have Pereira fuming.

Vitor Pereira will not be impressed by Wolves’ defending

While the numbers prove that Pereira has positively impacted Wolves’ defence, the Portuguese coach will be having stern words with his back five after Fulham’s opener.

Pereira has demanded his players to win more duels, something that has improved but, something that quite clearly needs more work.

Mistakes like the one seen so early into the Fulham clash are what could determine safety or relegation for the Old Gold, who must make every point count to avoid being near the drop zone in May.

Fortunately, soon after Joao Gomes got himself on the scoresheet to spare his teammates’ blushes after what was a disastrous start at Molineux.
