Forget Cunha… 59-touch Wolves star was Gary O’Neil’s key man v Burnley

Wolves picked up three points against Burnley on Tuesday and while Matheus Cunha was great, Pablo Sarabia was even better.

Wolves picked up a vital three points after back-to-back defeats in London, with a 1-0 win against Vincent Kompany’s struggling Burnley side.

In the game, it was once again Hwang Hee-Chan who turned out to be the game-winner at Molineux, scoring the only goal thanks to a Matheus Cunha assist.

Hwang wowed Michael Owen with his display, however despite not playing a role in the goal, there is another player who caught our eye.

That player is the Spanish wizard who seems to always play well for Gary O’Neil’s side when he is called upon, Pablo Sarabia.

Pablo Sarabia was immense for Wolves against Burnley

Wolves started a trio of Cunha, Sarabia and Hwang, which worked to great avail, but Sarabia is who walked out with a man of the match rating from SofaScore.

Sarabia lasted 79 minutes in the game which saw him have 59 touches of the ball, most of which were great with an 82% pass completion rate which yielded three key passes and one big chance created.

The Spaniard also won seven duels and two tackles in what was a really solid all-round performance across the field.

It is a performance which absolutely will leave an impression on O’Neil and will give him a huge decision to make against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Has Sarabia forced himself into O’Neil’s preferred line-up?

O’Neil has now got something of an embarrassment of riches in the forward positions with several players proving their worth in recent weeks.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde has been performing well along with Matheus Cunha while Hwang and a soon-returning Pedro Neto are shoo-ins at this point.

This makes competition for places tough with Sarabia also proving his worth right alongside the rest. It will be very intriguing to see how the boss lines them up in the coming games.

In an ideal world, a front four of Sarabia, Hwang, Neto and Cunha would be amazing if O’Neil could figure out a way of putting them all together.

A dangerous prospect to face for any opponent, but a quartet who could fire Wolves into the top half.
