Some fans have been reacting to the performance of previous Wolves transfer target Oleksandr Zinchenko yesterday.

Wolves went to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City, and lost 1-0 with Raheem Sterling scoring from the penalty spot.

Wolves put in a big effort in spite of the fact they went down to 10 men after Raul Jimenez got sent off.

In the end, it was a penalty that was Wolves’ undoing. The decision was controversial, with replays showing the ball hit Joao Moutinho in the side rather than on the arm.

It was a hugely disappointing way to lose, but the players will have to pick themselves up for the next game on Wednesday against Brighton.

It was interesting to see Zinchenko starting yesterday.

Given the threat of Adama Traore, it was surely likely Kyle Walker would be playing.

Perhaps Pep Guardiola had been irked by his red card in midweek against RB Leipzig.

Interestingly, Zinchenko has previously been heavily linked with a move to Wolves.

Apparently, the club had agreed a £16 million deal with City for the Ukraine international’s transfer in the summer of 2018 after achieving promotion to the Premier League (via talkSPORT).

But the player supposedly turned down the move, instead wanting to stay and fight for his place.

Zinchenko had a pretty good outing yesterday for Manchester City against Wolves.

The star constantly showed his technical quality and was never really fazed.

He had the second-most touches out of anyone (118) and completed 94/100 passes. Two of those classified as ‘key’ passes.

He also made three interceptions.

On social media, his performance drew lots of praise from Manchester City fans:
