Wolverhampton Wanderers fans were among those left very impressed by an exciting cameo from Renato Sanches today.

Portugal beat Hungary 3-0 in their first group stage match at Euro 2020.

Fernando Santos’ side were made to work extremely hard for their victory.

Hungary defended resolutely, holding their opponents until the 83rd minute.

Raphael Guerreiro opened the scoring in extremely fortuitous fashion, turning in a cross from Rafa Silva.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored from the penalty spot before scoring brilliantly in injury time. He exchanged one-twos twice with Silva before rounding Peter Gulacsi.

Interestingly, the floodgates seemed to open following the introduction of Sanches on 80 minutes.

His work for the second goal was superb. He won back possession on the right-wing before driving forwards into the Hungary half.

He then almost lost the ball but battled through three players before sliding in Silva. He was then fouled for the penalty.

It was a remarkable bit of play, and something that would definitely be appreciated at Molineux.

Sanches was actually linked with a move to Wolves last November by Calciomercato.

One wonders if/hopes the club still have an interest in the player now that the transfer window is open.

Fans were left wowed by Sanches’ brief cameo on social media:
