Craig Dawson offers ‘disappointing’ verdict on Wolves defeat to West Ham

Craig Dawson has shared his verdict on Wolves’ terrible 3-0 loss to West Ham on Sunday in the Premier League.

Craig Dawson has become one of Gary O’Neil‘s most valued players over the course of this season, as he has started 16 Premier League games.

His importance to the team cannot be understated as without him, three goals were conceded in a 3-2 defeat to Fulham.

His experienced head is wise and frequently he is the leader this Wolves side are craving. However, his display against West Ham on Sunday left plenty to be desired, as did the entire team’s.

A 3-0 thrashing in a game which many thought was a chance for Wolves to make a statement, and now following the defeat, Dawson has been vocal over his views on the game.

Craig Dawson on Wolves defeat

Speaking with club media, the 33-year-old was extremely disappointed after an abysmal performance against The Hammers.

He said: “Of course, to concede three [was disappointing]. I know more than anyone the goals they score, so we’re disappointed and those moments in the game and we created a couple of chances and couldn’t put them away.

“It’s a tough place to come. I don’t think we were at our best. Credit to West Ham – they punished us on the counter attack.”

Despite this, Dawson remains among the most important players at the club and given O’Neil wants him to stay until he’s 40, we assume they’ll be right back at it ahead of this weekend’s game.

What next for Wolves?

Despite a disappointing result against his former side, Dawson and Wolves remain in a good place this season. O’Neil has them in and around 10th place on 19 points.

Currently 13th, a result on Christmas Eve against Chelsea could see them leap as high as 11th, depending on other results.

O’Neil has been impressive this season in turning this Wolves side into a credible threat to any team they face, but it’s imperative that they strengthen in January so that this solid position is maintained.

Dawson and co will need to bounce back though, and Molineux on Christmas eve is no better time than to do so.
