‘Could be huge for us’… Wolves fans think one exit-linked player actually might be useful

Wolves lost their final pre-season friendly to Celta Vigo – but some fans feel one player may actually have made a surprisingly good impression.

Wolves will now begin their preparations for the first game against Manchester City in six days’ time.

Vitor Pereira knows his side will need to step up massively for the opening game, and fans are not too optimistic of a result.

It is a huge week coming up in the transfer window for Wolves.

If the club can get a couple of new faces through the door in time for the game, there could be an outside chance of a result, depending on who those players are.

But undoubtedly, Wolves’ pre-season has not really gone that well.

Yesterday’s performance against Celta Vigo was uninspiring to say the least.

That said, fans did praise one player for his efforts and feel he actually may have something to offer, amid speculation he could leave.

Wolves fans praise Sasa Kalajdzic after Wolves lose to Celta Vigo

Sasa Kalajdzic is back in the picture now for Wolves, after missing last season with a knee injury.

Kalajdzic sustained an ACL injury – the third of his career – while playing for Eintracht Frankfurt on loan.

The setback was devastating for the Austrian, who has already missed many games for Wolves after injuring his ACL on his Wolves debut.

But Kalajdzic recently impressed Wolves fans with his goal against Santa Clara, and fans have had a close eye on him over the last few weeks.

Kalajdzic has been linked with Serie A outfit Cremonese in recent days, and there is a chance he could depart on loan before the window closes.

A loan exit for Kalajdzic has felt likely, but the picture may have changed recently.

Some Wolves fans reckon it might be worth keeping him around at this point, given his display on Saturday and other showings in pre-season.

@jay_wwfc07: “Am I the only one who thought Sasa looked bright yesterday? Seen 1 or 2 people suggest he was poor but I thought he looked good.”

@Charleahx: “Think he looked sharp… Larsen needs players closer to him! Every time he brings the ball down he’s not got a player near him for another 10/15 yards! Be nice to see how we’d play with 2 up top.”

@MarshallSuite: “He looked very bright. Dropped deeper to get involved in the play and was consequently less isolated than JSL had looked.”

@GordonShillings: “I thought he looked lively, put himself about, closed down well and played the ball off well. Could be huge for us this season if we can keep him fit.”

@nigelpeter01: “I thought he looked pretty sharp too.”

@global1259362: “Thought he looked sharp. Would like to keep him around if possible and gently ease him back into action. Still think he can offer us something.”

Kalajdzic could be worth a try for Wolves

Kalajdzic actually has made a decent impression in pre-season, so it will be very interesting to see what happens with him in the next few weeks.

One gets the feeling that Wolves will look at potential new strikers.

But if a deal can’t be done for someone then he has to be kept around and given a try.

Kalajdzic has had awful luck with injuries, but many would love to see him still make a success of his move to Wolves.

Perhaps a versatile forward – who can play as a winger or as a number nine – could be brought in, with Kalajdzic kept around too.
