Wolves yesterday put an end to their losing run in the Premier League, picking up an unlikely point against Chelsea.
Wanderers were 2-0 down in the game thanks to a Romelu Lukaku double.
But the team showed great character to come from behind in the late stages.
Substitute Francisco Trincao pulled one back for Wolves with around 10 minutes to go, curling an effort into the top corner.
And in the 97th minute, captain Conor Coady scored with a header after a perfect cross from another substitute Chiquinho.
Wolves have had serious trouble coming from behind to rescue games this season.
This was only the second time they’ve managed to do it, after the comeback against Aston Villa.
But taking a point yesterday was no less than they deserved in the end. It was a much improved performance at Stamford Bridge.
Wolves are now up to 50 points after the result.
West Ham United are in action today against Norwich City and so it will be clearer later how good a result Wolves’ draw with Chelsea was.
Coady’s goal was his fourth of the season. And last night, he took to Instagram to send a defiant message to fans after a tough past few weeks.
He said: “Been a horrible few weeks, games where we haven’t been good enough and we had to look at ourselves, today was about performance and digging in … lads gave everything against a world class team, brilliant character from our whole club.”
A big response from Wolves after a dire past few weeks, as Coady grabs fourth goal of the season
Wolves gave a really encouraging performance in spells against Chelsea yesterday.
Barring the period where the Blues got their goals, Wolves created some great chances, and there was much more intensity than in recent weeks.
It was a really good to see, especially given Bruno Lage could not be on the touchline having tested positive for Covid.
In the end, it was remarkable that Wolves were able to get back on level terms given the level of the opposition, and previous record when falling behind this season.
There had been suggestions on social media after the Brighton defeat of possible tension behind the scenes. If that was the case, yesterday’s comeback would have been impossible.
