Ki-Jana Hoever had a nightmare for Wolverhampton Wanderers today, according to Clinton Morrison.
The teenager was handed another start against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, with Nelson Semedo shifting across to left-back.
The former Barcelona man has been keeping Hoever out of the starting XI for the majority of the season.
But Hoever got another chance against the north London giants – but unfortunately it was perhaps his worst showing of the season.
Most of the team struggled, but Hoever had a real hard time against Heung-min Son and Sergio Reguilon, and Tottenham’s second goal came about after he had lost a 50-50 with the Spaniard.
He was uncharacteristically poor in possession, completing just 24/38 passes (63%) according to Sofascore.
Covering the game for BBC Sport (15:28), former Premier League striker Clinton Morrison said of the 19-year-old: “Poor defending from Ki-Jana Hoever, he’s had a nightmare today, I don’t know what he’s trying to do, not strong enough.”
A tough outing for Hoever
£40,000-a-week player Hoever (Spotrac) has looked very promising at Molineux so far.
Most of his showings – admittedly he’s not had many chances to impress – have been quite good.
So people should not be too harsh on the Netherlands international, especially when it was a poor collective performance.
