Chris Sutton sends stark warning to Vitor Pereira in three-goal Wolves vs Newcastle prediction

Wolves return to action in the Premier League on Wednesday night as the Old Gold travel to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United.

Vitor Pereira’s unbeaten start to life at Wolves was ended last time out in the Premier League, as Nottingham Forest left Molineux with three points.

Now sitting above the relegation zone on goal difference, pressure is on for the Old Gold to return to winning ways promptly.

A trip to St James’ Park isn’t the easiest of routes to achieve such, in what is set to be a real challenge for Wolves in the North East.

Chris Sutton shares Wolves vs Newcastle prediction

While Wolves want to turn their Premier League form around, the Old Gold received a boost of confidence in the FA Cup most recently.

Rodrigo Gomes starred as Wolves beat Bristol City to progress in the tournament, a fixture that marked Emmanuel Agbadou’s debut.

Pereira wanted to see more from his attack during the game, which he will need to see an improvement in if his side are to get a result against the in-form Newcastle.

The Magpies won late at Molineux back in September, with Chris Sutton predicting another three points for Eddie Howe’s side on match day 21.

Sutton predicted the game to be ‘pretty straightforward’ for the hosts, despite crediting Wolves’ ‘good start’ under Pereira.

‘I don’t see their eight-game winning streak stopping here’, Sutton explained, sending a warning to the Wolves manager regarding Newcastle’s ‘firepower’.

‘Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon have been great and Jacob Murphy is absolutely flying,’ Sutton noted in his BBC Sport column.

The pundit rounded off his prediction with a 3-0 scoreline, expecting Newcastle to cruise past Wolves at St James’ Park.

Wolves’ record at St James’ Park

Wolves head to Newcastle high on confidence after the FA Cup win, however, will realise the challenge that awaits them.

The Magpies’ recent form doesn’t provide the Old Gold with much encouragement and unfortunately, neither does history.

Wolves’ away record vs Newcastle United – Transfermarkt

As seen above, Wolves have faced Newcastle 46 times away from home, resulting in only seven wins in all competitions.

14 draws and 25 losses have also played out, representing a win rate of just 15.2%, something that Sutton doesn’t believe will improve on Wednesday night.
