Chris Sutton and Paul Merson in complete agreement on Man City vs Wolves score prediction

Wolves kick off game week 35 of the Premier League with a trip to Manchester City on Friday night.

On a run of six successive wins, Wolves are Europe’s in-form team ahead of the trip to the Etihad, with Vitor Pereira doing a stellar job.

Nelson Semedo is even shooting for the Champions League at Molineux, believing that with the correct processes in place and the right recruitment, the Old Gold can follow in the footsteps of Nottingham Forest next season.

For now, though, Pereira is still focused on the end of this campaign and after Wolves’ 3-0 win over Leicester City on Saturday, the Wanderers moved up to 13th position.

Chris Sutton predicts Man City vs Wolves

In Thursday’s pre-match press conference, Guardiola was full of praise for Wolves, highlighting three key attributes that his side must be wary of.

The visitors possess the power in midfield and pace on the counterattack to hurt the hosts, with Pereira stating his game plan, essentially accepting that City will dominate most of the ball.

Patience could be a virtue for Wolves in this clash, and pundit Chris Sutton has praised the underdogs, yet still predicted the Citizens to secure a 2-1 victory.

“This should be a great game, because Wolves are so powerful and they will have no fear at all after winning six games in a row,” Sutton wrote in his column for BBC Sport.

“But Manchester City have looked much more solid in the past few weeks and they are on a bit of a roll themselves, with four successive wins in all competitions.

“Pep Guardiola’s side will look to control this game, the same way they did in the first half of their FA Cup semi-final win over Nottingham Forest, but I don’t think they will find it easy to keep Wolves quiet.

“Still, I went against City in their last home game, against Aston Villa, and I was wrong. I am not going to make the same mistake again.”

Paul Merson shares Wolves score prediction against Man City

Unsurprisingly, despite lauding their turnaround under Pereira as ‘incredible’, Paul Merson has also agreed with Sutton’s score prediction, forecasting a 2-1 win for the hosts.

“Wolves travel to the Etihad with nothing to lose,” Merson told Sportskeeda. “They have won six games on the bounce and are now 13th in the table. What an incredible turnaround for them in recent weeks!

“I believe this will be a really difficult game for City. If Nottingham Forest win against Brentford later tonight (Thursday), they will go above City. Now that’s added pressure on Pep Guardiola’s side with just four games to go.

“I’m still backing City to get the win here albeit by a narrow margin.”

Wolves have lost eight of their last nine against City, so their predictions are understandable, but given their recent remarkable run, this is arguably their best chance of ending that awful record.
