As well as Matheus Cunha, Wolves fans in awe of one star’s ‘sensational’ display vs Man United

Wolves came away with a vital 2-0 victory over Man United on Boxing Day to move the Old Gold out of the Premier League relegation zone.

Vitor Pereira faced the Red Devils in his first match at Molineux since he took over the club last week.

While Wolves were stranded in the drop zone before the match, the game was seen as a big opportunity to pull clear.

Goals from Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan, combined with Bruno Fernandes’ red card ensured this became a reality, as the hosted eased to victory.

However, while Cunha will rightly take all the headlines, fans were quick to point out that another Brazilian deserved an equal amount of praise.

Since Andre joined Wolves in the summer, he has struggled for consistency. Despite some excellent performances, the midfielder had been dropped from the team under Gary O’Neil back in November.

With players such as Tommy Doyle waiting on the bench, questions were being asked if the signing was needed.

However, since Pereira’s appointment, Andre has been outstanding, and his performance against United was certainly one to remember.

The Brazilian won everything in the midfield and stopped the visitors from forming any counter-attacks.

This was recognised by Wolves fans throughout the game who were quick to take to X, formerly Twitter, to praise Andre.

Andre’s performance almost epitomised how far the club has come in just one week after O’Neil was sacked.

Many Wolves fans were quick to point this out, believing that the former Wolves manager was holding the Brazilian back.

Eyebrows were raised when opted to sign Andre on deadline day instead of a defender.

However, the midfielder was seen as one of the best players in South America after winning numerous trophies in Brazil.

While it has taken some time to get Andre going, he now looks like the package that the club were promised in the summer.

Now, the 23-year-old must ensure that he continues his fine form against Spurs in a few days as the club looks to end the year on a high.
