Arsenal star now admits what Wolves did to make him ‘a bit nervous’ in 2-1 win

Martin Odegaard has explained that Wolves made him nervous during Saturday afternoon’s game at The Emirates.

On a day in which Wolves gave a good account of themselves despite being defeated, Gary O’Neil will probably be more concerned about an injury to key man Jose Sa.

Wolves were ultimately defeated pretty comfortably, despite a late resurgence via a goal from Matheus Cunha making the scoreline look very respectable.

The late goal from the Brazilian gave the team hope and there were a few moments when an equaliser looked possible. Now following the game, Martin Odegaard has admitted he wasn’t too confident as Wolves looked like making a comeback.

Martin Odegaard makes Wolves admission

Arsenal’s £300k-a-week captain was on the scoresheet for The Gunners but has admitted he had some nerves as Wolves looked to complete a comeback.

“To be honest, in the end when they scored the first one, it’s always a bit – what can I say – you’re always a bit nervous for the second,” Odegaard told Sky Sports News (02/12, 17:19).

“But I think we did well after the goal, I think we controlled everything most of the game.

“But, of course, we let them into the game with the goal, so that’s a bit frustrating. But in the end it’s a win and a well-deserved one, so we have to take that and move on.”

Odegaard’s words show the respect that Wolves have earned from their opponents and are now firmly established as a team who are difficult to beat.

Gary O’Neil will be delighted despite losing

Despite losing one thing that will have made O’Neil proud is the fact the team never gave up. Despite missing four players from his preferred XI, the team played with heart and didn’t give up.

Once again, this Wolves side proved that they are capable of challenging the top sides and have made a name for themselves as a side who are always a tough game regardless of how many absentees they have.

Next for Wolves are two more winnable games with Burnley and Nottingham Forest both coming to Molineux in back-to-back games in the next seven days.
