Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen has caught the attention of Alan Shearer, a man who knows a thing or two about scoring goals in the Premier League.
Jorgen Strand Larsen had Wolves fans thinking he was the man to lead their line at the start of this season after scoring 14 goals in the last campaign.
However, things just haven’t gone to plan. Matheus Cunha’s exit appears to have had a bigger impact than Fosun expected, as the creativity and service to the big man has been cut off.
What has happened to Jorgen Strand Larsen?😡
Steve Bull asked Wolves fans to give Strand Larsen some leeway, but there comes a point where enough is enough. Especially when Tolu Arokodare is sitting on the bench fresh after a goal.
As much as Rob Edwards claims Strand Larsen isn’t lacking in confidence, it’s clear that a change needs to happen for the good of the team.
Alan Shearer notices a lack of confidence from Jorgen Strand Larsen
If there is anyone we should listen to when it comes to strikers, it’s Premier League record holder Alan Shearer.
The former Newcastle United hero was casting his eye over Wolves’ defeat to Brentford and weighed in on the missed penalty from the striker.
Speaking on the Premier League’s live blog, Alan Shearer had this to say.
“Really disappointing from Wolves, especially after last weekend, and making it so difficult for Arsenal. It was so comfortable for Brentford with two good goals, even if Wolves did miss the penalty. You could see the lack of confidence throughout the team, and the stutter right before the penalty just showed that.”

Jorgen Strand Larsen is suffering after the transfer window saga
In late August 2025, Wolves rejected a £50m bid from Newcastle United. Larsen later admitted that the prospect of Champions League football at St. James’ Park affected him.
As much as the striker claims to be fully committed to the cause at Wolves, he must have some kind of regrets in the back of his mind, given how this season has gone.
Wolves have scored just 9 goals all season. And the Norwegian is currently averaging the fewest touches in the opposition box of any starting striker in the Premier League, which says a lot.
Larsen is spending more time chasing defenders and defending corners than he is sniffing out chances. By the time a chance finally falls his way, like the penalty today, he is physically and mentally exhausted.
