Alan Shearer shares his first impression of Mateus Mane after Wolves’ 3-0 win

Mateus Mane is the talk of Wolverhampton right now and deservedly so after his best performance yet for the Old Gold.

Wolves finally broke their duck in the Premier League in spectacular fashion against West Ham United, with goals from Hwang Hee-chan, Mateus Mane and Jhon Arias.

It was an unhappy return for former Wolves favourite Nuno Espirito Santo, who was even serenaded by the home supporters during the loss.

Even at the lowest of times, Wolves fans always find a way to come out on top in any situation, singing ‘we’re going to win the league’ after a first win of the season.

It’s that kind of positivity and spirit that can hopefully help this side pull off the impossible and escape relegation.

Something that even Mateus Mane brought up after the game, the fact that the Wolves fans are chanting his name makes him want to kick on and do more.

Who was your MOTM during that brilliant 3-0 win for Wolves? 🤩

Alan Shearer is full of praise for Mateus Mane

Mateus Mane has only started three games this season, and he’s single-handedly transformed the way Wolves are playing.

You know you’re doing something right when the Premier League’s record goalscorer, Alan Shearer, is giving you praise at 18 years of age.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, the former Newcastle United striker shared a brief comment on the Wolves man before ripping West Ham United apart.

Wolves have to get Mateus Mane tied down to a new deal

It’s blatantly obvious that clubs will come sniffing for the youngster should Wolves suffer relegation to the Championship after his quick rise to stardom.

Mane put pen to paper on a first professional deal at Molineux back in the summer of 2025, which will keep him tied to the club until 2027.

However, that’s not enough. A player with talent like Mane needs to be nailed down to a four-year deal minimum, so at least Wolves have some high ground if teams come for him.

It’s so clear the 18-year-old wants to give his all for Wolves after his recent interviews, so go out and there and make a statement by rewarding him.

Over to you, Fosun.
