30-year-old was surely Wolves’ best player in 1-1 draw with Burnley

Wolves drew 1-1 with Burnley, showing good character to come from behind at Turf Moor after another sub-par display.

Gary O’Neil had been hoping for a response to the 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa at the weekend.

But it wasn’t to be for Wolves, against a spirited Burnley side who are now unbeaten in their last four Premier League games.

They took the lead through Jacob Bruun Larsen, who finished superbly on the volley after a deep cross to the back post.

But Wolves hit back on the stroke of half-time. Rayan Ait-Nouri headed in a great free-kick from Pablo Sarabia.

It was another tricky night for young Leon Chiwome up top, although he was definitely overlooked in certain moments of the game at times by his teammates.

Ait-Nouri had a great game tonight, but arguably Wolves’ best performer was Jose Sa

Ait-Nouri will perhaps be getting most of the plaudits off the back of this game.

The Algerian scored a brilliant header, and really did show his class throughout with his trademark quick feet.

But he was also guilty of missing another fantastic chance, as he did against Aston Villa.

Arguably, tonight, Jose Sa was Wolves top performer, having made five saves in the game. Three of those came from Burnley shots inside the Wolves box (via Sofascore).

The 30-year-old made one particularly fantastic stop from a fizzing shot from Wilson Odobert, after seeing it quite late.

And just before that, the £28,000-a-week star denied Bruun Larsen a second goal, saving really well with his feet.

Utimately, had he not been on top form, Wolves could well have lost this game by a pretty big margin. That said, had Wolves been more clinical, they might well have taken three points.

Sa form is a big boost for Wolves

Tonight’s result was a little disappointing considering Burnley’s league position, but it could have been worse for Wolves had it not been for Sa.

The Portugal international has stepped up his game recently, and that’s helping to Wolves a chance in games amid a tricky period.

It’s a hard part of the season for Wolves with key players unavailable through injury.

But Sa – who shone against Coventry City – is doing well at the moment and hopefully he can sustain this form through until the end of the season.

If he can play as well as he did in his first season, then Wolves may just have an outside chance of securing some kind of European football when all is said and done.
