3 Wolves players will be desperate to beat Brentford to right wrongs of unwanted Molineux anniversary

Wolves will be desperate to beat Brentford on Tuesday evening in their FA Cup replay in order to set up a derby fixture against West Brom.

Wolves face a replay of their FA Cup third-round draw against Brentford with the prize of victory a date against Black Country derby rivals West Brom.

The Baggies are already through, beating Aldershot Town 4-1 earlier this month and now it’s up to Wolves to make it what would be a massive clash.

The chance to do so comes on the three-year anniversary of the last time the two sides met at Molineux which happened to be a 3-2 loss against the bitter rivals.

This loss is a painful one to stomach and if Wolves can progress tonight, they’ll be in with a chance of exacting their revenge at the Baggies home of Hawthorn Road.

Wolves could earn derby on anniversary of WBA Molineux win

In order to set up this exciting fixture though, Wolves need to overcome Brentford – although they will be confident of doing so.

Gary O’Neil will have his hopes set on a performance equalling that of December 27th’s 4-1 win in the league, rather than earlier this month’s 1-1 draw.

Wolves should have the upper hand to progress given it’s at home which has been something of a fortress for Wolves of late.

Winning as mentioned would set up a date with Albion, giving three players in particular the chance to see the fixture end differently – three years on from West Brom’s 3-2 Molineux win.

Three Wolves players who’d love to win tonight

There are three Wolves players who are in line to play in the fixture and were also involved in the last tie three years ago.

Pedro Neto and Nelson Semedo both lined out for Old Gold that day, while former Baggies man Craig Dawson was on the opposing side.

All three will be keen to win this tie and right the wrong of a few years back which Wolves have been eagerly anticipating the chance to amend.

But it’s pivotal not to look beyond tonight’s fixture against Brentford which Gary O’Neil has warned his players not to do.
