23-year-old Wolves player with four key passes was ‘electric’ despite 4-3 loss to Manchester United

Wolves unbeaten run in the Premier League is over after losing 4-3 against Manchester United.

Gary O’Neil’s side wasn’t at the races in the first half as United established a two-goal lead through Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford.

The Wanderers were fortunate not to have conceded more in the opening period and showed their dogged determination and desire to craft a second-half comeback.

While Scott McTominay initially cancelled out Pablo Sarabia’s controversial penalty, Wolves battled back through Max Kilman as he tucked away his chance in the box before Pedro Neto thought he had earned the hosts a point with a 95th-minute equaliser.

Unfortunately, the spirit they showed to fight back was undone by a moment of brilliance from teenage star Kobbie Mainoo, who broke Wolves fans’ hearts right at the death.

The second-half display, though, was the type of performance that people have become accustomed to seeing under O’Neil.

Despite being shaky defensively, Wolves were electric in attack and that’s something that was rarely associated with managers previously.

Pedro Neto was one of the few players who carried that electricity and was immense throughout the contest.

How did Pedro Neto perform against Manchester United?

Neto has instantly bounced back from his injury and picked up from where he left off in the past few matches.

In the 2-0 victory over West Brom in the FA Cup, the Portuguese superstar opened the scoring which settled any early nerves, and he was pivotal in this thrilling match against the Red Devils.

The 24-year-old embodied everything great about Wolves in attack, demonstrating fearlessness, ambition and quality all rolled into one.

He was the one who helped inspire a second-half fightback by winning a penalty and although the awarding of it was controversial, he gave his side hope.

Through his willingness to commit defenders with his skill and agility, Neto caused United huge problems on the counter-attack and that’s how his equaliser happened.

Wolves made a rapid break and when he was found with acres of space on the right, he cut inside and slammed the ball into the bottom right corner.

It didn’t end up earning O’Neil’s side a point, however, his all-round performance was impressive, making four key passes, winning five ground duels and accurately placing four crosses, via Sofascore.

Neto put in an “electric” display that placed him further into the shop window as Wolves probably accept that he could depart in the summer.
