22-year-old starts, Neto on the bench… Wolves predicted line-up v Chelsea

Wolves will welcome Chelsea to Molineux on Sunday in a Christmas Eve fixture which could see Wolves go level with their opponents.

Gary O’Neil will be hoping his side bounces back after last weekend’s humbling against West Ham.

The game pits two sides battling for mid-table against each other and so we are likely set for an intriguing afternoon at Molineux.

Ahead of the game – Paul Merson couldn’t quite separate the two in his predictions as he gave 2-2 as his scoreline.

But one thing is for sure – O’Neil will need to field a strong team in order to compete with Mauricio Pochettinho’s Chelsea side.

Here’s our predicted line-up…

Wolves predicted XI vs Chelsea

O’Neil will no doubt be keen to revert to his successful system with three at the back against Chelsea. This hopefully will involve Jose Sa returning to the team after Daniel Bentley conceded three against The Hammers.

In defence – the regular three will start at centre-half with Max Kilman on the left, Craig Dawson in the middle accompanied by Toti Gomes on the left as he returns to his favoured position.

In the wing-back slots – Nelson Semedo should start on the right with Rayan Ait-Nouri returning on the left after Gomes had a torrid time at left-back last week against Mohammed Kudus.

Moving into the midfield – Joao Gomes and Mario Lemina will have the task of stopping the expensive Chelsea midfield. But slightly ahead of these two – we’d like to see Pablo Sarabia slot into the number 10 position.

That leaves the front two as Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan – however, the three players furthest forward will probably have no defined position and instead alternate and rotate around to cause Chelsea several different problems.

One notable mention is Pedro Neto who should be fit to feature on the bench – a massive return for Wolves.
