16 duels won, 7 clearances: Wolves man was rock solid v Luton Town

Wolves drew with Luton Town 1-1, following a dubious VAR call which gave Luton an equaliser, but Max Kilman was great.

The decision sparked confusion and outrage from various different footballing pundits.

Gary Lineker called the decision “ludicrous“, while Mike Dean admitted he had “no idea” why the penalty was given.

The draw means Wolves now have just four points from six games which is a poor haul compared to what has become the norm at Molineux.

But despite the poor performance at Kenilworth Road, one man can hold his head high, captain Max Kilman.

Max Kilman impresses v Luton

Kilman put a strong display as Wolves struggled against Luton, the Hatters were dominant with Wolves under constant threat.

As per SofaScore, Kilman won 16 duels in the game being beaten only once which shows how dominant he was in defensive.

He also made seven clearances and three tackles to give Wolves a decent chance at success, but ultimately the VAR given penalty let them down.

He was also involved on the ball, with 71 touches and a 72% pass completion rate.

Let down by the team

The captain was far and away the best performer in the draw which feels like a loss.

In a way he was let down by the midfield and attack, as the defence did their job, but against Luton the attack needs to be doing better.

Pedro Neto’s wonderful solo goal was the only thing Wolves did and the only thing which avoided another defeat.

Kilman as the captain needs to be having serious words with his squad before a early season slump turns into a relegation battle.
