Wolves star Hwang Hee-chan breaks down in interview after South Korea's World Cup exit

Hwang Hee-chan broke down in tears during a post-match interview last night, after South Korea went out of the World Cup at the hands of Brazil.

The Wolves winger and his teammates suffered a 4-1 defeat to the competition favourites.

Last night, Brazil really showed why they are many people’s tip to win in Qatar.

They put in a ruthless performance, and scored four goals in the first-half to blow Korea away.

Vinicius Jr got the ball rolling, and Neymar scored from the penalty spot to hand Brazil a 2-0 lead inside 13 minutes.

Further goals followed from Richarlison and Lucas Paqueta, leaving Korea stunned.

Paik Sueng-ho pulled one back in the second-half in what was an improved display from the Koreans.

But it was a rather sorry performance all in all, and a sad end after their brilliant work to beat Portugal to reach the last 16.

Wolves star Hwang was perhaps Korea’s best player on the night.

The 26-year-old worked tirelessly and came close to scoring on a couple of occasions.

His efforts were praised by ITV commentator Ally McCoist.

Hwang – whom Wolves signed permanently for £14 million in the summer – started the game, having not done so in Korea’s first three matches due to a hamstring injury.

Last night he was unable to stop Korea from being hammered, and after the game his emotions were clear to see.

Whilst conducting a post-match interview with KBS, the former RB Leipzig star broke down in tears as he reflected on what had just happened.

Hwang was clearly devastated about last night’s result.

But he can hold his head high after what he showed in Qatar.

It was thanks to the Wolves star that Korea were even able to contest that game with Brazil in the first place last night.

He’s a hero after his goal against Portugal.

Korea were naive against Brazil and it was a relatively easy game in the end for Tite’s side.

But Hwang was lively and deserves praise. Especially having just come back from a hamstring injury and producing that kind of level.
