Portugal have taken six points from their first two games, recording another win last night over Uruguay.

Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes scored two goals for the Selecao.

Neves played for around 70 minutes, operating once again as the deep-lying midfielder.

It was another decent showing from the 25-year-old, who completed 88% of his passes (Sofascore).

There was also an appearance last night for Matheus Nunes, who was an unused substitute in the first match against Ghana.

Nunes came on and showed some good touches.

He wowed the crowd in the 95th minute when he collected the ball in his own half, drew a Uruguay player before bursting away down the left wing.

Portugal can now head into the final group stage match with South Korea more relaxed, with their place in the knockout stages assured.

Following last night’s game, Wolves star Neves has posted on Instagram.

He wrote the message ‘Passage guaranteed, we don’t want to stop here. Great team work’.

A number of past and present Wolves players responded, including Nelson Semedo, Fernando Marcal, and Jose Sa, who was an unused substitute in last night’s game.

Semedo wrote ‘maestro’, Marcal said ‘Play tooo much!!!!’ and Sa commented ‘Follow my ponytail’.

Ruben Neves doing Wolves proud at the World Cup with Portugal

Neves has enjoyed two fairly solid outings so far in Qatar.

It is good to see Fernando Santos putting his faith in the Molineux maestro and having him start.

He’s not absolutely dazzled yet, but he’s finding his feet on the biggest stage, and has been nice and tidy.

He is doing Wolves proud, and hopefully Santos will hand him more minutes going forwards.

It would be fantastic to see Neves actually playing in the knockout stages.
