VAR denied Wolves another two points after they were forced to settle for a stalemate with Leicester for the second time this season.

Fans thought they would be celebrating at half time after Willy Boly’s header put them 1-0 up. However, this was not to be the case after a marginal decision meant that goal was ruled offside by VAR.

Pedro Neto was this week’s victim, after he was ruled offside by what seemed to be the back of his heel. The decision came from a short corner which was exchanged with Diogo Jota.

Wolves had already been denied a goal due to the same technology at the King Power stadium earlier on this season which also finished in a goalless draw.

This harsh decision means that Wolves have now had four goals disallowed for VAR this season, leaving them second to Sheffield United.

Despite the irony that the two new sides fighting in the top seven have been affected the most by VAR, fans are most angry about the technology taking away their love from the precious game.

Nuno has his say:

Boss, Nuno Espirito Santo told Wolves’ official website “it’s upsetting” when asked his thoughts after the game.

“It upsets you because when you see the images, there’s no clear advantages. The law is the law, of course, and I don’t want to say it’s a bad decision, but there’s no clear advantage in that situation. The body is in line, the foot stays behind.

“What I’m positive about is that full reaction of us professionally, the full reaction of the fans, but something has to be done – let the people that understand make changes to go back to the joy of celebrating goals like we used to do, because we are in danger of becoming robots and football is not about that”

Confusion from the referee was also made apparent as captain Connor Coady questioned the decision whilst exiting the pitch at half time but received no clear answer.

Wolves’ defence was superb all evening, not allowing Vardy into the game. Jimenez could have been more clinical in front of goal, however Jonny and Neves came up with top class performances.

Although VAR may have stolen the limelight on Friday night once again, Wolves fans will not let it distract from their performance on the evening.
