Matheus Cunha enjoyed a positive return to Molineux as Wolves made things very easy for Manchester United.
It goes from bad to worse for Wolves. That is now four defeats in a row since Rob Edwards took charge, and four more goals added to the already woeful against column this season.
The only positive was that Jean Ricner-Bellegarde scored Wolves’ first goal since October, but, as is typical of this season, he went off injured in the second half.
How good was Jean-Ricner Bellegarde against Manchester United?
Let's hope the injury is not long-term 🙏
It may just be the worst display since Rob Edwards took charge. The defence looked all over the place at times in the second half, and continued to make mistakes that gifted the opposition an advantage.
Although the supporters were able to make their point, with chants about Jeff Shi and Fosun, building on the protest from Wolves fans that began at the start of the game.
The other talking point was Matheus Cunha on his return to Wolves, and even he caught a few boos.
Matheus Cunha posts Instagram message after Wolves clash
Matheus Cunha hasn’t made the best of starts to his Manchester United career, but he managed to bag an assist on his return.
Many speculated what kind of response he would get from the Wolves fans, and it didn’t take long to find out, as boos could be heard around Molineux.
However, the Brazilian appears to have read the room slightly differently, as he took to Instagram to thank Wolves fans for his warm welcome.
Did Matheus Cunha deserve the boos on his Wolves return?👀
Well, our prediction about Matheus Cunha in terms of keeping him quiet when it came to scoring was correct, but he had a game-high eight shots.
Matheus Cunha showed Wolves what they’re missing
The one thing that stood out about Matheus Cunha’s display was his ability to start attacks and really drive at the defenders, which is something that’s been missing at Wolves.
It makes you wonder, where would Wolves be this season if they hadn’t sold Cunha?
Fer Lopez was the only player who really showed any positivity after coming on, but it was too late.
Jorgen Strand Larsen has come in for some criticism, and rightly so, but you can’t help but feel that he’s missing a proper partner in attack. He and Cunha used to feed off each other last season.
Should JSL be dropped for Wolves’ next game vs Arsenal?
